The not-self theme: your check-engine light
Frustration, anger, bitterness, disappointment — four uncomfortable feelings that are actually instrumentation, not indictment.
Each type has a signature — the felt sense of being on track — and a not-self theme that reliably appears when something upstream ignored the design. The theme is not who you are; it is where to look.
| Type | Signature (on track) | Not-self (off track) | Return via |
|---|---|---|---|
| Generator | Satisfaction | Frustration | Wait to respond |
| Manifesting Generator | Satisfaction and peace | Frustration and anger | Wait to respond, then inform before you act |
| Projector | Success | Bitterness | Wait for the invitation |
| Manifestor | Peace | Anger | Inform before you act |
| Reflector | Surprise | Disappointment | Wait a lunar cycle (≈ 28 days) for major decisions |
Using the light
When the theme shows up, don't analyze the feeling — check the last decision you made without your authority. For Emotional authorities that's usually "decided in the spike"; for Projectors, "gave guidance nobody invited"; for MGs, "acted without informing". The feeling passes once the strategy is back in use; the point is never to suppress it.
Reflectors carry disappointment as environmental data — it usually means "I stayed too long in the wrong place."
